Alt Summit in Salt Lake

Ben Silbermann, founder of Pinterest
All photos are from the Alt Design Summit photo stream. The photographers of the above photos were Justin Hackworth, Brooke Dennis of B.A.D photography, and Leigh Anna and CJ of Moss and Isaac.

I was in Salt Lake pretty much all last week. I was there for the Alt Summit - amazing, wonderful and overwhelming. Just as I expected, seeing as it was my second year going!
I had troubles getting there, a five hour road trip turned to about nine hours because of car troubles - absolutely no fun whatsoever. Thankfully my return home last night was uneventful.

My roomie for the week was Rachel from Raenovate - we had an absolute blast together and it was very sad dropping her at the airport yesterday. Thanks to my wonderful, generous and absolutely loving sister Liz that actually housed both of us in her beautiful condo. The Summit itself was fantastic, highlights were the keynote speech by Ben Silbermann who created Pinterest & the mini parties. Bonus was getting to chat with Ben Silbermann at the mini parties. The panels, lunches, parties and mini workshopes were all amazing, and I got to meet some really creative, inspiring people.

An unexpected highlight was the foodie tour on Saturday! We went to Les Madeleines, an absolute MUST if you are in SLC to try their famous Kouing Aman - a pastry made by only about 5 other bakeries in the country. It is aptly described as 'crack'. Don't get just one - you will be sad. Then we went to Tony Caputos market and sampled about 10 different cheeses and meats, plus got a quick, very in depth lesson on chocolate. Delicious!

Custom bracelet for Rachel Grace

The beautiful Rachel Grace from Raenovate asked me to make her a custom piece for her wedding back in October. The bracelet is the one with the ribbon on it, the other bracelet was her great grandmothers - something old and something new. I love doing custom pieces and Rachel was an absolute pleasure to work with - I am not just saying that because we will be sharing a bed for the Alt Summit - but because she has turned out to be a wonderful friend.

Please contact me if you would like bridal jewelry, or any custom pieces. I have some upcoming weddings on the books and I would love to add a couple more to the mix!

Inslee Haynes

All illustrations by Inslee Haynes
I spent the better part of an hour gazing at Inslee Haynes beautiful work. I am in love with all of her illustrations, and when I decide what I want - I will most certainly be contacting her to do a commission piece. In the meantime, I urge you to head on over to her site for more fashion illustrations!

White on my mind

Winter time white has been on my mind. With the upcoming Alt Summit, and an evening dressed in all white has me wondering, what to wear? then I found this outfit... yes please!

Welcome January

I have been missing from my computer for awhile now - but for really great reasons! I have spent the past two weeks acting like I was on vacation. From parties, to cross country skies, being glued to my best friends, to general holiday cheer - I couldn't begin to sit down and open my laptop. However, it must come to an end, and I would love to take a few minutes to recap 2011 so I won't forget what a fun, fantastic year it was! My sister did this too, and she inspired me!
  • Attended Alt in Salt Lake and met some really amazing people - hopefully lifetime friends! 2 weeks till Alt 2012
  • Traveled to San Diego, Huntington Beach, New York, Houston, Salt Lake, Barcelona, Cinque Terra, Rome, Positano, Sorrento, Palma de Majorca...
  • Learned the basics of Trapeze at the New York Trapeze school high above the Hudson River
  • Ran with 11 other cousins in Ragnar - 206 miles later we arrived in Coronado Beach, CA.
  • Sold padgett hoke jewelry at shows on Valentines day and at the Christmas Bizarre & online and in stores
  • Sold homes to friends and deserving individuals. Learned an immense amount about foreclosure homes. Had the pleasure of working with my dad/partner on some really tricky & challenging real estate deals.
  • Stand up paddle boarded the Snake River, Jackson Lake, Jenny Lake, Leigh Lake, String Lake, Two Ocean Lake and finally, La Jolla Shores
  • Hiked up to the Meadows, Amphitheater Lake, Surprise Lake & Leigh Lake
  • Biked & ran all over the Jackson Hole valley
  • Celebrated the marriage of William & Paige, Wheeler & Millen's baby boy Harris, Peter & Dree's baby girl Alexandra, and the engagement of Abby and Tim
Here is to another amazing year, I hope it is as fruitful and successful as the last!
